The programme was commenced on February 1, 2006. So far, there are over 5,000 cancer patients benefited through the programme with total allocation amount exceeded HK$10 million dollars in cash and $300 million dollars market value equivalent of drugs.

To provide drug sponsorship (partial or full) to needy cancer patients who were unable to afford paying for the self-financed drugs, as listed in the Hospital Authority Drug Formulary, for their cancer treatment.

Funding Procedure
1. Recommendation by any oncologist of the six oncology departments of public hospitals [Queen Elizabeth Hospital (including the United Christian Hospital Oncology Department), Tuen Mun Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and Queen Mary Hospital].

2. An application form completed with financial statement filled by patient and referral by medical social worker after financial assessment.

3. Applications submitted by medical social workers on patients' behalf were vetted and approved by the designated panel on individual case's merit.
