The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society (HKACS) would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Jing Yuan Charity Foundation and the Shaw Foundation for sponsoring the " Integrating Chinese and Western Medicine Joint Consultation Program ". This program allows patients during their anti-cancer journey to receive a joint consultation conducted by a Clinical Oncologist and a registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner specializing in Oncology, who will explain their medical condition in detail.
The program aims to help patients gain a comprehensive understanding of their condition and provide professional advice. Through the consultation, we aim to address your concerns and help you understand how Chinese and Western medicine can complement each other to eliminate treatment-related discomfort. We are here to walk hand-in-hand with you on your anti-cancer journey.
Eligibility:
- Cancer patients currently undergoing treatment, or those who have completed their treatment within the past 9 months;
- Hong Kong Identity Card holders aged 18 or above;
- Applicants must present formal proof of cancer diagnosis (e.g., medical report, hospital discharge summary, medical record, or follow-up appointment slip from a specialist clinic).

Balancing Body and Mind
Fighting cancer is a marathon. For 62-year-old breast cancer patient Ms. Wan, the severe side effects of conventional treatments left her physically and mentally exhausted. Everything shifted when she joined the “HKACS Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Consultation Program”.
Although she initially worried about the medications clashing, she soon discovered how seamlessly the two disciplines complemented each other. Whilst the clinical oncologist utilized precise treatments to target the tumor; the Chinese medicine practitioner gently regulated her body, relieving her discomfort from the side effects.
This joint approach empowered Ms. Wan to navigate her illness with comfort and dignity. Her current physical condition has improved, and her anxiety has resolved into a sense of peace.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Shaw Foundation for their generous funding, allowing us to provide this life-changing, integrated care to patients during their most vulnerable moments.
Ms. Wan’s story reminds us to seek support early. With the joint protection of Chinese and Western medicine, we are here to walk hand-in-hand with cancer patients, bringing care and hope to their cancer journey.
