Fundraising for the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society to Support Cancer Patients

The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society (HKACS) presents the Sydney & Friends: “Stride of Love” Charity Concert, which was successfully held on November 19, 2024, at 7:45 PM at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall. This concert brought together celebrities from the performing arts, medical, and business sectors, including Miss Elisa Chan, the Cantopop superstar; renowned music producer Mr. Chiu Tsang Hei; film and television star Ms. Katherine Lau; Ms. Michelle Yim; popular host and "HiEggo" platform founder Mr. Lawrence Cheng (Ah Dan) and 'The Anti-Cancer Quintet' featuring Dr. Leong Che Hung, Dr. Ko Wing Man, Dr. Simon Kwok, Dr. Jimmy Tang, and Prof. Sydney Tang, all performing for charity. The event aims to unite various sectors in raising funds for HKACS, helping more cancer patients in need through a night of classic hits.

The one-night-only charity concert was organised by HKACS and initiated by Prof. Sydney Tang, a member of the HKACS board of directors and the Communications and Fundraising Committee. He collaborated with Mr. Chiu Tsang Hei, an advisor to the committee, to conceptualise the event. We were honoured to have Mr. John Lee, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, deliver a congratulatory message via video, and Dr. Ronald Lam, JP, Director of Health, served as the Guest of Honour.

Among the performers were Dr. Leong Che Hung and Dr. Ko Wing Man from the medical field; Dr. Simon Kwok, Chairman and CEO of Sa Sa International Holdings; and Dr. Jimmy Tang, Chairman of Prince Jewellery and Watch Group, who joined Prof. Tang to form the "Anti-Cancer Quintet" for a special performance. Members from the Department of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, including Prof. Ivan Hung, Dr. Paul Lee, and Dr. Jojo Hai, also performed in support. Additionally, Prof. Ava Kwong, a leading authority on breast cancer and actively involved in cancer prevention efforts in Hong Kong, took time out of her busy schedule to perform. The concert also featured young talents, inviting world harmonica champion Mr. Gordon Lee and the Hong Kong Children’s Choir. Ms. Akina Fong, one of the most famous hosts in Hong Kong, not only served as the emcee but also performed.

Mrs. Patricia Chu, Chairperson of HKACS, expressed gratitude: "We appreciate the unwavering support from our benefactors for HKACS. Thanks to all the professionals behind the scenes who contributed to the concert, especially Professor Sydney Tang and Mr. Chiu Tsang Hei. We hope everyone can, as the concert theme suggests, 'Stride of Love' and do more to bring hope to cancer patients."

Professor Sydney Tang, the driving force behind the concert, stated: "I am not a professional singer, but just a doctor who loves to sing and help others. The support from everyone is my greatest motivation. Special thanks to Mr. Chiu Tsang Hei for taking time out of his busy schedule to fully support this charitable endeavor." The funds raised will be used to assist needy cancer patients in accessing HKACS’s "Charity Bed Programme," providing comprehensive and professional cancer care.
