According to the Hong Kong Cancer Registry, colorectal cancer has been ranked the top common cancer in Hong Kong for third consecutive years. It is predictable that the number of new cases will continue to rise. Colorectal cancer is preventable by leading a healthy lifestyle. Also, systematic screening is vital for detecting early colorectal cancer so early treatment can be given. Thus, we suggest those aged between 50-75 with moderate risk of having colorectal cancer preform regular screening.

Since September 2016, the Government has carried out a three-year Pilot Programme to subsidise asymptomatic Hong Kong residents with required age to undergo screening tests in phases. The first two phrases were completed and the third phrase will be started on 27 November 2017, subsiding eligible Hong Kong residents born in the years 1952 to 1955 for enrollment of the screening test. Besides, those eligible persons from the first two phrases, i.e. those born in 1946 to 1951, who have not enrolled in the programme before can still join the screening now.
